Archaeo Earrings 111
These tiles are approximately 1" in length, and hang from hand-crafted, partially blackened sterling silver earwires.
This colorful series features tiny tiles, made from white earthenware clay, that are stamped on the fronts (with found objects or commercial stamps) and brushed with a black underglaze. They are then wiped with a damp sponge to expose the white clay while leaving the black in the recessed areas. They are glazed on the back with a black, stone finish glaze before they are fired. After the firing, the color is hand painted with oils and accented with colored pencil that is sealed with a satin varnish.
