ARTIST STATEMENT
Step one is looking at the world – there are so many interesting things in it – all the trees, bugs, streets, clouds, people, dogs, paintings, the list is infinite. I like to gather bits and pieces of that fascinating world of ours and to put my own spin on it – highlight something I like, combine this and that, turn things upside down. I take the world in and play with it. I guess ultimately, I want to glance beneath the world’s surface. Step two is recording my modified world using acrylic paints, pencils, markers, sometimes I cut my new worlds out of the colored paper. The next step in my process of making art is trying to understand how the viewer interacts with it. I love it when people tell me what they think, very often they have fascinating ideas that I can later incorporate into my new worlds – back to step one.
