ARTIST STATEMENT
These works are my “Block Prints - I C U Folio”
How much information is required to establish identity?
What information matters?
What is the minimum amount of information I need to present and still retain an individual persona with a sense of place?
I cut block prints from sheets of rubber, each with a specific narrative reference – a group of trees, waves, a pair of eyes open and a pair of eyes shut, lips, hands.
Using the block in multiples, on the same page, emphasizes “sameness”.
Within the process of printing, I am finding the variations that are within all of us.
I also use spray paint and some of the pages are cut, perforated, and stapled.
