ARTIST STATEMENT

My mono-print and digital collages explore the sensitive interconnections between surface and textures. The basic geometric shapes contain vibrant colors that are housed in symmetrical shapes, creating a constant movement and a changing environment. The careful observer begins to discover the delicate surfaces that lie hidden among the many layers of colored inks, all layered into one final piece. The rich patinas and woven surfaces magnetically draw one into each image. These images have a strong reference to landscapes. The busy forms and strong use of color bring to life a strength that lives in landscapes. They seem almost indifferent to the elements that continue to wear at their surfaces and daily challenge their structural integrity. At the same time this is happening, Nature is painting an entirely new palette in which they will exist.
