The next 50 years of painting I immersed myself in exuberant and playful exploration of color and texture through watercolor, mixed media and oils.

A painterly approach of loose brush work and knife applications in oils, satisfied my need to create the textural surface rich in color that now represents my work.

This quote attributed to British artist, Walter Sickert states “Start like a bricklayer, end like a jeweler” guides the structure of my work today.  Using transitions of broad brush strokes of color shapes to establish my values then smaller negative shapes to carve out the image, I finish with touches of bright accents applied with palette knife.

My images are gleaned from daily sketches and observation of surrounding landscapes and seascapes that are reimagined in my studio.
