Artist Statement

I design and create jewelry from sheet metal and wire and semiprecious stone cabochons and beads using basic metalsmithing tools and techiques. I find such satisfaction in taking a simple, blank, square of sheet metal or wire and transforming it into something recognizable, aesthetically pleasing and wearable. I use hand tools such as saws, hammers, pliers and my torch to capture the beauty and joy of our natural surroundings and the animals we share this amazing world with. Living in Medford, NJ gives me ample ideas for my creations. I love hiking in local nature preserves where I'm surrounded by trees, water and sky.

After I've created a basic jewelry piece I give it detail with texture, stamps, patina and colorful stones. My designs are described as earthy, organic and eclectic. Each piece is created solely by me and is unique, one of a kind and intended to be enjoyed for years to come.

The journey of jewelry making started in 2010 with stringing some glass beads. From there, I took some wirework classes in 2011, fell in love with wirewrapping and wireweaving and then moved into metalsmithing in 2014. My favorite technique is anything that requires the use of a hammer. I love shaping the metal and wire and adding texture. I continue to seek out new techniques and skills and learn from other jewelry artists, books, online videos and through my own experiments.

I participate in multiple juried art shows in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware throughout the year. I'm a member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and the South Jersey Cultural Alliance.

In June 2021 my running horse bracelet won an honorable mention in the Medford Art Center's 2021 Equestrian Art Juried Online Exhibition.
