Artist Statement

Crockery Series.

This series began as an exploration of using artist quality water soluble crayons and pencils (Neocolor II and Inktense) along with acrylic paints. Here the effects of pentimento and visibly overlapping planes seem like fleeting impressions, second thoughts and pieced together memories -- the cups and glasses on the table after everyday moments spent together over coffee, or lunch with a special friend, or book club.... The shapes and forms and textures and colors of the vessels that touch our lips and hold our fingerprints are so varied -- each as unique as the person who chose it.
