ARTIST STATEMENT
My work is involved with landscape and inspired by abstract shapes and forms against atmospheric color. My paintings are about a solitary discovery of place and the unconscious images generated from repeated observations of natural light modified by color and space in paint. I take photographs on walks and use the images in my studio to start my compositions. I also paint outside on site. An emotional undercurrent is important to my imagery and my use of paint expressionistic within this framework.
