Artist Statement 

As a figurative artist, I am intrigued by the dichotomy of the seen and unseen in human existence. I am inspired by the external: the cast of a head, the movement of the body, textures of the hair, skin and fabric–these details all work to suggest a great deal that is otherwise unspoken. There is a unique internal spirit that I am always striving to capture. I feel it as much as I see it. My love of painting the figure is a response to the unspoken world that lurks beyond even a visual likeness. This duality is what keeps me passionate about working with the figure.
