Artist Statement 

Relating is defined as “establishing a social or sympathetic relationship with a person or thing.” Social is defined as “living or disposed to live in companionship with others or in a community, rather than in isolation.” Sympathy is defined as “harmony of or agreement in feeling, as between persons or on the part of one person with respect to another.”

I am interested in our ability to relate and how we negotiate and adjust when there are obstacles to relationship. In the making of my work, there is both the relationship to materials as well as subject matter that is considered.

I am constantly seeking harmony and a path towards it. Harmony, as defined as: a pleasing arrangements of parts: congruence; agreement, accord; internal calm, tranquility.
